Flying Dot Org, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase participation in general aviation by introducing middle and high school age students to aviation, piloting aircraft and other STEM based activities.
Flying.org was formed in 2006 as an idea for a website for prospective flight students to find information about aviation. In that time, we've evolved into nonprofit corporation with a mission to help students achieve their full potential in life through the field and study of flying and aviation. We have been a vital part of our community for a number of years. We have continued to grow through new ideas with the help of our donors and volunteers that make our mission possible. Through all these years our purpose still remains the same: inspire students to be the best they can be. Flying.org began with a simple idea: one of the strongest names in aviation should be used to bring more people into it.
The Flying.org domain was acquired more than two decades ago, long before the organization’s full purpose had taken shape. In 2017, Flying Dot Org, Inc. was formed as a Pennsylvania nonprofit.
For several years, the idea remained largely dormant. But the need behind it only became clearer. Aviation continued to offer extraordinary opportunities, yet many young people still had no obvious way in. They did not know a pilot, live near an aviation program, or understand where to begin.
In 2026, three professional aviators—Nick Kosko, Bill Vaughan, and Chad Pensiero—came together to relaunch Flying.org around a larger mission: to turn interest in aviation into real human connection and real-world experience.
Their backgrounds in aviation, business, charitable work, humanitarian service, governance, and storytelling shaped the organization’s direction. Flying.org would not become simply another aviation website or media outlet. It would become an open, neutral front door—helping newcomers find the mentors, organizations, airports, and opportunities already waiting for them.
The organization is still at the beginning of that work. Its history is not defined by how long it has existed, but by what it is now setting out to build: a national aviation community centered on access, belonging, and the next generation.
