The tide table report that one of the stronger Bore Tides of 2008 will occur on Thursday, June 5th at 17:22 for Beluga Point and 18:22 for Bird Point.
Mark and Brenda Rogers chased one down the Seward Highway last month. “It was probably about two feet tall at best and completely fizzled out as it rounded the bend at Bird Point,” according to Brenda. “Maybe this one will put on a better show.” She recommends a good zoom lens.
Brenda further indicated, “A fellow “chaser” told us the bore surfers (if they show up) usually get in on the south side of Bird Point where the main channel comes close to the road.”
Surfing in Alaska… “Cool” literally and figuratively!
